Summary:

The Surgical Technologist Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Trainee I facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures. May operate independently towards the end of training on certain cardiovascular procedures.

The CVOR Surgical Technologist Training Program at Memorial Regional Hospital prepares you for a specialized, high‑impact role in cardiovascular surgery. Designed for both new graduates and experienced surgical technologists, this two‑track program builds the advanced clinical knowledge, technical skill, and independent practice required in high demand surgical environments. The program begins with 6 months of Operating Room training, followed by 12 months of specialized Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) training. Participants will gain a unique blend of classroom instruction, clinical experience, and hands-on learning designed to build the skills needed to support complex cardiovascular procedures.

Responsibilities:

Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments.Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.Coordinates with the Surgical Technologist in decontamination, preparation and sterilization of instruments in sterile processing.Assists nurses with patient care.Assists with preparing for the procedure by transporting, gowning, positioning draping and transferring patients to the exam table.Coordinates with the Surgical Technologist to pass instruments to physician during surgery.Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.Collaborates with the Surgical Technologist to prepare surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.

Additional Job Information:

Other Information: Certified Surgical Technologist certification (CST or TS-C) is preferred.Additional Education Info: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
